DIGICEL TCI LAUNCHES ITS BUSINESS BRAND WITH INNOVATIVE SEMINAR

In anticipation of its fixed wireless license, Digicel launched its Business brand with a breakfast seminar entitled “Maximizing Profits In A Slowing Economy”.

APRIL 8TH, 2009 – PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS – To introduce the public to its newly launched Business brand, Digicel TCI hosted a business seminar entitled “Maximizing Profits In A Slowing Economy” at Beaches Resort & Spa. A number of industry professionals, such as John Benjamin, Managing Director, TCI Bank; Eddinton Powell, CEO, PPC; and Delton Jones, Permanent Secretary of Finance, TCI Government, spoke at the free seminar and shared with the audience a numbers of tips and best practices on what businesses can do to survive these challenging economic times. Executive Permanent Secretary TCI Government, Dr. Hugh Fulford moderated the event.

“These are tough economic times for everyone, and we felt that the least we could do was to use our contacts and our experience to help the businesses – particularly the small businesses – within our community survive.” stated E. Jay Saunders, General Manager, Digicel. He further stated that “If our partners and customers go out of business we will go out of business, and so it is in our best interest to make sure that they succeed.” As part of its plan to help its customers save more, Digicel rolled out a number of new products and promotions that are designed to cut cost for its customers.

One of the products for business customers was a GSM Gateway, which allows companies with existing lines and PABX’s from other carriers to utilize Digicel’s services, which provides the best value for money. In addition to the core business products, Digicel also officially launched two new promotions. “Stop the Clock. Talk for FREE.” and “Go for Gold”, which they are being called, are geared towards all Digicel customers. The “Talk for FREE” promotions include: a) FREE after 5, where for every 5 minutes a Digicel customer spends on a call to the Dominican Republic, Philippines, USA, Canada, and the Bahamas, they will get an additional 5 minutes FREE; and b) FREE after 15, where if a Digicel customer spends a total time of 15 minutes on Digicel to Digicel calls during the day, they will get FREE Digicel to Digicel calls for the rest of the day.

“Go for Gold” is a promotion geared towards postpaid customers. Every time a postpaid customer pays a bill in full and on time, Digicel will give them a gold medal. Once per month Digicel will randomly choose one postpaid customer, who will get US$500 for every gold medal that they had received up to that point. There are over US$35,000 in cash prizes to be won.

“We used these new promotions to slash our effective rate by over 50%. For example, our customers can now call the US for 20 minutes, but pay for just 10 minutes. That is a significant savings from what they were spending before, which will help our customers maximize their profits” E. Jay explained. To showcase how Digicel manages its cost and maximize its profits, E. Jay officially unveiled Digicel’s new retail bag, which is 100% biodegradable. The beautifully designed, red and green bag is not only environmentally friendly – as it breaks down into compost –, it is also financially friendly. E. Jay, who came up with the concept for the bag, pointed out that “…these new bags are over 70% cheaper than our old bags. For Digicel, that works out to a 6 figure yearly savings, which goes directly towards helping the company maximize its profits.” The new retail bags can be found in all of Digicel’s retail locations.
