  1. What is Blackberry Service?

·      It is a product offered by the company Research in Motion (RIM).

·      The service allows customers to send and receive emails from their Blackberry handheld devices, browse the Internet, and use Blackberry messenger.

·      Blackberry devices also provide PDA functionalities.

 

  1. What is the Blackberry SOCIAL service?

·      Digicel Blackberry SOCIAL – The Digicel Blackberry Social Package offers consumers a Basic Blackberry Package at a lower cost.

·      The Blackberry Social package offers consumers the following Blackberry data services:

*   Social Network Applications

*   Instant Messaging (IM)

·      However the following services are not included in the Social package:

*      Email

*      Internet browsing

 

  1. What is the Blackberry Social promotion?

·         Digicel Blackberry Social promotion offers the Blackberry Social plan to ALL Prepaid customers for 30 days at a cost of $6.

 

4.      What was the start date for the Blackberry Social Plan?

·      The start date is September 02, 2011.

·      Customers may activate any time on or after September 02, 2011.

 

  1. Are all customers eligible for the Blackberry Social Service?

·      Only Digicel PREPAID customers are eligible

 

  1. How do I activate the BIS SOCIAL Blackberry Service?

·      To activate the BIS SOCIAL, dial from the home screen

7.      What is the cost for the Blackberry BIS SOCIAL Plan?

·      The cost to activate the Blackberry SOCIAL plan is $6.

 

8.      What does the service include?

·      Digicel Blackberry SOCIAL

·      Instant Messaging (IM) – MSN, Blackberry Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk

·      Social Network Applications (e.g. Facebook, MySpace)

 

NB:

                        The service does not include

*      Email (e.g. Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail)

*      Internet browsing

 

  1. What is the difference between the current Blackberry service and the Blackberry SOCIAL Service?

·      The current Blackberry service allows customers the option of sending emails via their POP3 emails (yahoo, Gmail, msn etc) and have the emails forwarded to their Blackberry, as well as Blackberry Social applications, Blackberry Instant Messaging services and Internet Browsing.

·      While Blackberry SOCIAL doesn’t offer the email service, and Internet Browsing

·      What Blackberry SOCIAL does offer is the option for customers being connected to their social Networks, this includes Facebook and MySpace, Twitter etc. and also IM (instant messaging) applications e.g. MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk.

 

11.  What does a customer need in order to access the Blackberry SOCIAL service?

·      Customer should be a Digicel Prepaid subscriber

·      A GSM Blackberry device

·      Required credit to activate the service

 

 

12.  Will the customer be able to browse WEB sites with the Blackberry Social service?

·      No.

·      Customers can only web browse if they are connected to a WiFi connection.

 

13.  Will I be able to switch to another Blackberry Plan after activation of Blackberry Social?

·      Yes, you can switch to another Blackberry Service, if you allow the current plan to expire.

·      The plan has to expire before upgrading to a full Prepaid Blackberry plan. Once you have received the expiration message you may choose a Prepaid Blackberry plan by dialing *136#

 

14.  Will customers be charged for using Blackberry data services while roaming?

· Yes.  Data charges will be applied at the prevailing roaming data rate.

 

15.  Is there anything that the customer must do before starting to use the service?

· Yes. The device should be registered on the network in order to complete activation.

·      There are two (2) options available:

Remove and replace battery.

 

 

16.  Will I be charged for downloading Facebook and other social applications?

·   No.

· Customers will be able to download and use the Social applications at no additional cost.

· Customers can only web browse if they are connected to a WiFi connection.

 

20.  What are the messages that the customer will receive when using the service?
